BrightLocal tracking tool shows high volatility in local search results, showing signs of a possible local search ranking update. Local RankFlux has reported high fluctuations on June 6th and 9th, while significant changes were seen on June 8th.
Google has not confirmed any local search ranking update. But worth noting, the June 2021 core update is still rolling out and perhaps could have been the reason for the fluctuations.
Industry-Specific Update
The update is likely industry-specific highly affecting:
- Accounting and financial services
- Real estate and property businesses
- Landscapers and gardeners
- Tradesmen
While the rest of the categories did not seem to be impacted by this local update. So, if your business has been negatively hit by this local update, then you’ll need to wait for a while.
Note: Google has already informed us that the current core update is of two-part nature, and the next core update is being rolled out immediately in July 2021. And, some of the changes in the June 2021 core update are likely to be reversed in the July 2021 core update. So, you may need to wait until the core updates get rolled out completely to see if the changes are being reversed.
