Why Are My Rich Snippets Not Showing Up in Google Search?

There can be scenarios in which your site may not earn a rich snippet for the same search terms as another site despite using all of the required Schema Markup types. If this is the case & you’re trying to get to the bottom of why and do what’s in your power to change that, here’s how:

1 Test Your Rich Snippets

Firstly you need to test the presence of your theme’s rich snippets. You can test it with the help of Google’s Rich Results Testing Tool.

With the help of Rank Math, not only is it far less likely that you’ll run into problems with your Schema Markup – testing immediately after making any changes to a website is just a click away:

2 Configure the Schema Markup

You can then configure the Schema Markup using the Rank Math plugin.

Once you have followed the configuration steps carefully and made the necessary adjustments, then you need to wait for Google to re-index your pages and update its database. All your website’s pages must be re-indexed by Google in order to consider the changes that you made to your rich snippets. You need to simply be patient as this might take some time, even up to several weeks.

You can also check whether your pages are indexed or not with the help of Google Search Console.

3 Check Whether the Page is Crawled by Google

The webpage on which the Schema Markup is present and valid should also be indexed/crawled by Google. You can check whether your pages are crawled and indexed or not with the help of Google Search Console.

However, this can change with time, and your results may sometimes have their rich snippets disappear and reappear randomly. This is where it can be a bit annoying as there is no explanation provided by Google. You can also have a glance at the structured data guidelines of Google.

4 Issues in Code

Your rich snippets may be technically incorrect, as there can be issues with the code that is used to implement rich snippets. In order to rectify these issues, we recommend you to use Google’s Rich Results Testing Tool.

5 Quality Issues With the Site

Quality-related issues can also result in rich snippets not showing up in Google search. However, there is no single solution for quality-related issues. Some of the factors that could affect the quality of your website are as follows:

  • Poorly written and/or thin content
  • Keyword stuffed content
  • Low-quality inbound links pointing to the site
  • Slow loading of the site
  • The site is not mobile-friendly
  • Several prominent ads

Also, please note that even though your rich snippets are configured correctly and do not generate any kind of errors in the structured data test tool, only Google has the authority to decide whether to display them in the search results or not.
