After enabling the Content AI module, go to the WordPress post or page you want to edit or optimize. Next, open the Rank Math SEO meta box and enter your focus keyword in the designated field, as shown below.
Once you’ve entered your focus keyword, review the SEO tests. You’ll see a Fix with AI button, marked with the Content AI logo, next to failed tests.
This button is powered by Content AI, and with a single click, it will automatically resolve the failed SEO tests for you.
Let’s explore how this feature works across each section of Rank Math’s meta box SEO tests.
2 Fix SEO Tests in the Basic SEO Section
For this article, we’ll use ‘How to Sell Anything to Anyone’ as our blog’s title, with the focus keyword being ‘sell anything to anyone.’
Now, looking at the first SEO test in the Basic SEO section, you’ll see this failed test: ‘Focus Keyword does not appear in the SEO title.’
2.1 Focus Keyword in the SEO Title
In this example, the article’s title doesn’t fully include the focus keyword, which is essential for proper optimization.
To fix this, click the Fix with AI button. Content AI will automatically generate and apply a more optimized SEO title that includes your focus keyword.
Here’s how it works:
Clicking the Fix with AI button triggers a brief processing popup. After a few seconds, Content AI will display the Preview Snippet Editor with the correct SEO title added. You’ll then have three options to finalize your choice (these options appear for all tests):
- Approve: Applies the suggested fix to your content.
- Regenerate: Provide a different suggestion if you’re not satisfied with the first.
- Reject: Dismisses the suggestion without making any changes.
If you’re happy with the suggested SEO title, click Approve to finalize the update.
If you choose Regenerate, navigation arrows will appear, allowing you to toggle between the current and previous suggestions for comparison.
Once the AI automatically adds the SEO title, you will successfully pass the SEO test.
2.2 Focus Keyword in SEO Meta Description
The next SEO test is: ‘Focus Keyword not found in your SEO Meta Description.’
This message appears when your article’s meta description doesn’t include the focus keyword. To resolve it, click the Fix with AI button, and Content AI will automatically generate a meta description containing your focus keyword to help you pass the test.
The Preview Snippet Editor will pop up upon clicking the button, displaying the newly generated meta description. Before applying the change, you can review it to ensure it aligns with your preferences.
You’ll pass the SEO test once the meta description has been added.
2.3 Focus Keyword in URL
Ideally, your post’s URL should contain the focus keyword for better optimization. If missing, you’ll see the failed SEO test: ‘Focus Keyword not found in the URL.’
To fix this, click the Fix with AI button next to the test. Content AI automatically updates your post’s URL to include the focus keyword.
Once the update is complete, the SEO test will be marked as passed, and your URL will be properly optimized.
2.4 Focus Keyword at the Beginning of Content
To further optimize your posts for SEO, it’s best to include the focus keyword at the beginning of your content. If Rank Math detects that your focus keyword is missing from the introduction, it will trigger the failed test: ‘Focus Keyword doesn’t appear at the beginning of your content.’
No need to worry!
The Fix with AI button appears next to the test for a quick solution. Clicking it will prompt Content AI to update your introduction, adding the focus keyword. Any content added by the AI will be highlighted in yellow, making it easy to review the changes.
If you’re satisfied with the update, click Approve to finalize it.
Once you approve the fix, review your content again—you’ll notice the SEO test has been successfully passed.
2.4 Focus Keyword Appearance in the Content
Including your focus keyword within your content is essential for SEO, as it helps search engines understand the topic of your post. If your focus keyword doesn’t appear in the content, Rank Math will fail the test with the message: ‘Focus Keyword doesn’t appear in the content.’
To resolve this, click the Fix with AI button next to the test result. Content AI will analyze your content and strategically include the focus keyword in relevant areas while maintaining readability and context.
The changes made by Content AI will be highlighted in yellow, allowing you to review the adjustments. If the placement and usage of the keyword meet your expectations, click Approve to finalize the update.
Once approved, you’ll pass the SEO test.
2.5 Content Length
For SEO purposes, your post should be at least 600 words. If your content falls short of this, Rank Math will flag it as a failed SEO test in the meta box, prompting you to extend your content to meet the minimum word count.
To fix this, simply click the Fix with AI button next to the SEO test result. Content AI will analyze your content and enhance it as needed to ensure it meets or exceeds the required word count. Any changes made by the AI will be highlighted in yellow, making it easy for you to review and approve them.
Once you approve the changes, you’ll pass the SEO test. For example, if your post originally had 597 words, the AI might expand it to around 1,141 words, significantly improving its value and meeting the required length.
3 Fix SEO Tests in the Additional Section
Now that we’re in the Additional Section, there are more SEO tests you can resolve using the Fix with AI button. Let’s take a look at them.
3.1 Focus Keyword in Subheadings
It’s highly recommended to include your focus keyword in at least one of your post’s subheadings. If the keyword is missing from any subheadings, Rank Math will flag this as a failed test, displaying the message: ‘Focus Keyword not found in subheading(s) like H2, H3, H4, etc.’
To fix this, click the Fix with AI button next to the test result. Content AI will automatically add the focus keyword to one or more of your post’s subheadings.
Once the update is made, the editor will automatically scroll to the heading where the keyword was added. At this point, the SEO test will be marked as passed. Review the changes to ensure the updated subheading fits your content correctly and meets your preferences.
3.2 Keyword Density
Keyword density, which measures how often your focus keyword appears in relation to the total word count, is an important factor for SEO. If your keyword density is too low, Rank Math will flag this as a failed test and show how often the keyword appears in your content.
Rather than fixing this manually, simply click the Fix with AI button next to the test result. Content AI will analyze your content and optimize it to ensure your keyword density meets SEO best practices.
As always, the AI will highlight the updated areas in yellow, making it easy to review the changes. Make sure the added content is properly placed and formatted. If you’re happy with the adjustments, click Approve.
Once approved, you’ll see that you’ve successfully passed the SEO test, as shown below:
4 Fix SEO Tests in the Title Readability Section
This section focuses on your content’s title to ensure it aligns with the best SEO practices. Let’s address the failed SEO tests.
4.1 Focus Keyword at the Beginning of the SEO Title
For optimal SEO, it’s important to place your focus keyword at the beginning of your SEO title. This helps both search engines and users quickly understand the content of your page.
If the focus keyword is missing from the start of your title, Rank Math will flag this as a failed test with the message:‘Focus Keyword doesn’t appear at the beginning of SEO title.’
To fix this, simply click the Fix with AI button next to the test result. Content AI will automatically adjust your SEO title to include the focus keyword initially.
Once the update is made, the Preview Snippet Editor will open so you can review the changes. If you’re satisfied with the adjustment, click Approve to finalize it.
After approval, the Rank Math meta box will pass the SEO test.
4.2 Positive or Negative Sentiment Word in SEO Title
Using a positive or negative sentiment word in your SEO title can make it more engaging and impactful. Words that evoke strong emotions help grab attention, boost click-through rates, and improve overall SEO performance.
If your SEO title is missing such a word, Rank Math will flag the test as failed with the message:
‘Your SEO title doesn’t contain a positive or a negative sentiment word.’
To fix this, click the Fix with AI button next to the test result. Content AI will analyze your title and add an appropriate sentiment word to make it more compelling.
After the update, the Preview Snippet Editor will open, allowing you to easily review the changes. If the suggestion meets your expectations, click Approve to apply it.
After approving the update, you’ll pass the SEO test.
4.3 Power Word in SEO Title
Power words are persuasive, emotional, and impactful terms that elevate your content, making it more engaging and compelling for readers. They help improve click-through rates, conversions, and overall user engagement.
If your post’s SEO title lacks a power word, Rank Math will flag it as a failed test with the message:
‘Your title doesn’t contain a power word. Add at least one.’
To fix this, click the Fix with AI button next to the test. Content AI will automatically add a power word to your SEO title.
For example, the original title of this illustration was “How to Sell Anything to Anyone.” After optimizing with Content AI, it changed to “Proven Strategies to Sell Anything to Anyone.”
In this case, “Proven” is the added power word, replacing “How to” with “Proven Strategies.” By including this power word, the test is passed, and your title becomes both more persuasive and SEO-friendly.
4.4 Number in SEO Title
Including a number in your SEO title is an effective way to grab attention and set clear expectations for readers. If your title is missing a number, Rank Math will flag it as a failed test with the message:
‘Your SEO title doesn’t contain a number.’
To fix this, click the Fix with AI button. Content AI will analyze your content, identify any relevant numbers, and automatically add one to your SEO title.
In this example, the post discusses 7 points, and Content AI detects this, updating the SEO title accordingly.
After the fix, the updated title becomes: “7 Proven Strategies to Sell Anything to Anyone Effectively.”
By adding the number, the test is passed, and the title is further optimized for SEO.
5 Accessing Previously Generated Content
If you’ve approved an AI-generated suggestion and closed the review popup but later want to use a previous version, don’t worry! Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Content AI → History to view all previously generated content. From there, you can copy any version and paste it into the appropriate field in your post.
Now that you’ve seen how Content AI can help fix Rank Math SEO tests, always review the updates or optimizations it suggests. This ensures they align with your goals and don’t introduce any unwanted errors. While AI streamlines the process, it’s important to ensure the changes meet your needs.
