What is an RSS Feed?

An RSS feed is a service that informs subscribers when their favorite site publishes a new post. You can think of it as a notification service. When you arrive at a site you like, you subscribe to it by clicking the RSS button. RSS will then send you notifications whenever the site is updated.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or RDF Site Summary. The RSS feed can be accessed and read through RSS feed readers, browsers, or websites that support RSS feeds. Depending on the content’s publisher’s settings, you can access a preview of the content or the entire content from the feed.

RSS was quite popular in the 2000s. At one point, there were concerns that its popularity would lead to the demise of email marketing. However, it fell into disuse and is less commonly used or supported today.
