What is Content Management System (CMS)?

A content management system (CMS) is a software or platform for creating, managing, and publishing content on the web.

WordPress, Joomla, Wix, and Shopify are some of the most popular content management systems around today. Without them, everyone will have to learn programming or hire a programmer to help create and manage their sites.

A content management system consists of two parts:

  • Content Management Application (CMA)
  • Content Delivery Application (CDA)

We will now address them one after another.

Content Management Application

Content management application is a part of the CMS that allows a blogger to upload, modify, and delete content from their site. It is only available to the blogger who owns the site and is inaccessible to visitors. The WordPress Admin dashboard is an example of a content management application.

Content Delivery Application

Content delivery application is a part of the CMS that stores, compiles, and publishes the uploaded content to your site. It is hosted on the CMS’s servers and is unavailable to the blogger or visitor.
