Signs of possible search engine algorithm update on January 12, 2021. While we saw the last unconfirmed update start on January 7th – SERP tracking tools have started to pick ranking fluctuations once again starting on January 12th and then became clearer on January 13th. However, Google has not officially confirmed an update.
Note: Google has recently published a research paper on SMITH (Siamese Multi-depth Transformer-based Hierarchical) encoder. Since there were speculations about the SMITH algorithm update resulting in ranking fluctuations, Google’s Danny Sullivan has confirmed that SMITH has not been deployed in production yet.
