In its latest blog post, Google announced the Hidden Gems Ranking Algorithm update that started rolling out several months ago but only revealed for the first time now.
This update will allow helpful, personal, first-hand user-generated content posted on blogs, online forums, and social media sites to be displayed in search results.
Google’s Official Announcement
Google announced the Hidden Gems Ranking Algorithm Update in a post published on their official blog.Â
While Google did not announce the day it was released, they mentioned that they introduced the Perspective filter to the Google app and mobile users in May 2023 and will introduce it to desktop users in a few weeks.
By selecting the Perspective filter in search results, visitors can view first-hand information from people and creators.
What Are People Saying?
On X (formerly Twitter), Glenn Gabe asked Google when the update was released. Google said it was released several months ago and has been continuously updated until it was revealed on November 15, 2023.Â
Several months ago. Don’t know the exact date offhand, but it’s been months and we’ve been improving and ramping it up since then to fully now.

In response to another question, Google clarified that the update is not part of the September 2023 Helpful Core Update, as previously thought. Instead, it is part of the core ranking system.Â
We said it wasn't part of an update to the helpful content system, because it wasn't part of that system. Instead, it was being tested as part of our core ranking systems. Since it's fully launched now, that's what we announced today — that it's live and part of core ranking.
