What is Domain Authority?

Domain authority (DA) is a metric that predicts the likelihood of a site to rank in search engine result pages. The metric was developed by Moz for the Moz SEO software. It is not a search ranking factor.

Moz determines a site’s domain authority by analyzing several factors, including its root domain and the quality and quantity of its backlinks. Then, it uses machine learning to determine the appropriate domain authority score to assign to the site.

The domain authority score is a number between 1 and 100. The higher the score, the higher the site’s domain authority and its likelihood of ranking higher in search results.
