What is Pogo-Sticking?
Pogo-sticking is when someone searches for something, clicks on a result, goes to the webpage, and then goes back to the search results to click on another result.
The searcher may repeat the same thing with the next webpage and will continue like that until they leave or find the content they want.
Pogo-sticking usually indicates the visited webpage doesn’t contain the required information or meet the searcher’s expectations. Consequently, it can negatively impact SEO as it signals to search engines that the webpage may not be relevant or valuable to users.
‘Pogo-sticking’ comes from a pogo stick, a toy that makes brief contact with the ground before allowing the user to bounce into the air.
