What are Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs)?

Search engine results pages (SERPs) are the webpages a search engine displays in response to a search query. They are also called search results or search result pages.

A search engine result page contains two types of results.

  • Organic Results: These are unpaid results. They are the result of search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Inorganic Results: These are paid results. They are advertisements and are usually marked ‘Sponsored.’

Organic and inorganic results include text, including the site’s name and the URL, title, and description of the content. Depending on the search query, the organic search results may include rich snippets, videos, and knowledge panels.
