What is Skyscraper Technique?
The Skyscraper technique is a content marketing and link building technique wherein you identify a piece of content that has received many backlinks, create a better version of it, and then request the sites already linking to similar content to link to yours.
The Skyscraper technique was developed by Brian Dean of Backlinko. He promotes it as a great way to get high-quality backlinks. The technique involves creating “linkable assets”, which Brian described as content that is better than the already existing best content.
The skyscraper technique is a three-step process:
- You identify a linkable asset bloggers already link to
- You create a linkable asset that is better than that linkable asset
- You reach out to bloggers linking to that linkable asset & similar content and suggest they link to yours instead
